'Richard,
Duke of Gloucester, will stop at nothing to get the crown...'

After
a long civil war England enjoys a period of peace under
King Edward IV and the victorious Yorks. But the king’s
younger brother Richard, Duke of Gloucester, resents Edward
IV's power and the happiness of those around him. Malicious,
power-hungry and bitter about his physical deformity, Richard
plots to seize the throne by removing any and all impediments
between him and the crown. Laurence Olivier's 1955 film
portrayal of Richard is still well-remembered and, latterly,
Kevin Spacey has had a big hit with it on stage at the Old
Vic.
One of Shakespeare's best known and most accessible plays.
