Copperfield
by Geoff Bamber, directed by Rosemary Gowers
Comedy
of Dickens’ David Copperfield. David's
life takes a turn for the worse when his widowed mother takes
up with the unscrupulous Mr Edward Murdstone. David is packed
off to a nasty school and subsequently finds employment in
Murdstone's factory. Employment is short-lived as David's
friend and co-worker Mr Micawber is unjustly jailed for embezzlement
and David seeks a new life with his eccentric Aunt. This lasts
until her maid elopes with an old school friend of David's,
and he sets off back to London on a rescue mission, during
which he rediscovers Micawber and they find the true identity
of the embezzler, and, indeed, a happy ending.
Shooting Truth by Molly Davies, directed
by Corrina Jacob
Deep
in the woods near an abandoned village, a group of students
is about to shoot the story of the youngest ever witch - and
Alice feels she's finally found a role. The same woods, four
centuries earlier: a gang of teenagers gather, fearful and
intrigued to have found a witch in their midst - and Freya
thinks at last she has some power. Past and present collide
in an unsettling tale of witchcraft, film-making and practical
jokes gone wrong.
